| For centuries the islanders of Lewis, Harris, Uist & Barra have woven the magical cloth the world knows as Harris Tweed. The original gaelic name was 'Clo Mhor', meaning 'the big cloth'. To this day the cloth is still woven by the islanders in their own homes, on their own looms using pure virgin wool produced in Scotland. Original definition Harris Tweed means a tweed, hand-spun, hand-woven & dyed by the crofters in the outer Hebrides. |
